We have openings for the positions shown here. Winning candidates should be passionate about coaching their sports--rowing and/or paddling--with youth and adults from the recreational to competitive level. We are looking for a positive attitude, high energy, and an appreciation of the goals and challenges of the non-profit world. All positions offer competitive compensation based on experience.

Head Coach
Full or Part Time
The Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club has an amazing coaching team, and we want you to be a part of it.

Take charge as the Head Coach of our growing Juniors program or our established Masters team, or both for more paid hours. Your high energy, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to safety will lead you to thrive and grow with PVRC. Our Director of Rowing will set you up for success with leadership and support from the big details to the small. And our experienced part-time assistant coaches will support you every stroke of the way.
Well-qualified candidates looking for a leadership position are encourage to apply but program coaching is a priority and requirement. Beyond coaching weekly practices, we travel to regional regattas and host two of our own regattas, plus outreach events and fundraisers which you will help us plan and execute. A positive attitude and interest in outreach and recruiting activities to grow the sport of rowing to underserved populations in our community is a must.
Nestled in the lush nature of Western Massachusetts with many affordable housing options nearby, PVRC is housed in a 125-year old boathouse on a stretch of the Connecticut River in Springfield, MA with minimal motorboat traffic. PVRC offers competitive and recreational rowing, dragon boating, kayaking, and hosts community events from its historic boathouse in a public park. PVRC is a 501c3 non-profit charity and an EEO, so qualified applicants will be considered without discrimination.
Head Coach Requirements: Minimum of 2 years coaching and 2 years competitive rowing including motor launch driving. Trailer pulling experience is preferred, but training will be provided. Certificates achieved or in process: Massachusetts Boaters’ Safety, CPR/First Aid, Safe Sport, USRowing Level 2. Complete criminal background check.
Candidates with less experience who are interested in assistant coach roles are encouraged to apply.
ASSISTANT ROWING COACH
Part Time.
Rowers! Coxswains! Coaches! Come lead our Junior rowers and/or Masters team in Springfield MA to learn, improve, and excel at rowing. Juniors practice afternoons 3pm to 6pm, Monday - Thursday, Masters practice 2 evenings and select mornings. If you believe diversity is the future of rowing, and want to make a difference in a community rowing program, please apply! Year-round opportunities to work, volunteer, and/or gain non-profit experience.
