The health and safety of all members is the top priority of the Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club (PVRC). At this time, PVRC will offer various sculling (small groups in singles) and Dragon Boat practices (small groups in kayaks, until group exercise is permitted) with new policies and procedures as described below. We understand the situation is evolving rapidly and we are reassessing our plans on a weekly basis. As new information comes in, PVRC is prepared to adjust the program structure in line with guidance of our federal and local governments. Outdoor Fitness Training & Community Camaraderie
Adult Fit Row: Join your friends and coaches for some fun outdoor fitness training to prepare for our return to the water! PVRC is excited to offer a socially distant, fresh-air, rowing-focused exercise program for all abilities this Spring that will keep you active and connected with friends and teammates. Sessions will be limited to 12 people. If you are new to PVRC, please come to the first session at no charge! PVRC will take all necessary precautions to ensure our athletes, our coaches and our families stay safe during COVID-19. Please read and agree to the PVRC Safety Guidelines & Protocols prior to registering for the 2021 Spring Season. Capacity: 12. Mondays and Wednesdays 6pm-7pm, Saturdays 8am. Dates: April 5 - May 1. Cost: $125.

Training classes will be limited to 12 athletes
MASKS ARE REQUIRED except when athletes are actively erging, walking, running, exercising
Each athlete is assigned a machine per class and required to clean that machine pre and post training session.
Each athlete is asked to bring their own mat, resistance bands and a set of hand weights
Weights are optional, not required
Athletes will NOT be allowed to share equipment
Equipment (ergs/paddle machines) will be set up on the driveway with safe distancing
Indoor training session details:
Athletes must wear weather/activity appropriate gear (dry wick clothing and layers)
Stretching, yoga and very light activity
Meetings and video review
12 athletes or fewer meets the current standard for indoor training
Dates: April 5th - May 1st (4 weeks)
Option 1: Fit Row (Monday, Wednesday & Saturday)
Option 2: Fit Paddle (Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday)
Time: 6:00 - 7:00 pm (Saturdays 8:00 or 9:00 am)
Capacity: 12 each program
A followup program for 4 weeks in May will be announced, as well as summer programming.
Athletes will need to be 12 feet apart when training indoors

Join PVRC Youth Crew, Spring 2021
Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club (PVRC) staff and coaches are excited to welcome youth athletes to TRAIN-ROW-GO at Springfield’s North Riverfront Park on the Connecticut River.
PVRC mandates adherence to wearing a face mask at all times, social distancing, effective equipment cleaning, and protocols for training indoors, on land and on the water. In addition, PVRC will comply with all Massachusetts Department of Public Health COVID19 operational recommendations as outlined in the PVRC Safety Guidelines & Protocols.
Flexible training plans have been developed for the ability to train with consideration of all weather/water conditions and COVID19 safety precautions. Athletes and families are encouraged to register for the option that is most comfortable for them and meets their individual mental and physical fitness needs.
Land training may include: aerobic conditioning on the rowing machines (ergs), running, flexibility and mobility exercises, speed and agility work, full body circuits, and light weight lifting.
Water training will be available only when favorable weather (water/wind/temperature) conditions allow for a safe experience, as determined by PVRC coaching staff. Athletes should be prepared to train in all conditions by bringing appropriate gear, including layers, waterproof jacket, hat, etc.
3 Youth Crew Training Options:
Fit Row Crew: For 8th-12th grade, no experience needed. This introduction to the sport of rowing covers the basics of fitness, equipment, safety, and teamwork. The schedule is flexible: choose any 2 sessions each week. The opportunity to train on water will depend on the safety of conditions, participants’ progress and preparedness, and ultimately the coach’s decision. Capacity: 10. Mondays-Thursdays 5pm-6pm, pick any 2 days each week (your choice of day may change week by week). Dates: April 12 to May 20 (6 weeks). Cost: $265.
Fit Recreational Crew: For 8th-12-th grade, no experience needed. This group practices four days a week and is for athletes who are new to rowing or have less than 1 year of experience. Improve overall fitness, develop rowing skills, and work as a team while having fun! The opportunity to train on water is determined by safety, weather, and the coach’s discretion. water conditions. This group has no weekend practices, scrimmages, or regattas. Capacity: 10. Mondays-Thursdays 5pm-6pm. Dates: April 12 to May 20. Cost: $475
Competitive Varsity Crew – This team is for experienced high school rowers with at least 8 weeks of rowing experience at PVRC to sharpen their rowing technique and fitness in preparation for regional on-water scrimmages. Athletes commit to Monday through Thursday plus scheduled Friday/Saturday events. On-water training is determined by favorable safety, weather, and water conditions. The coach provides Individual athlete/family consultations for boat assignments, including singles, doubles, quads, and eights, all with masks until further notice). Capacity: 12. Monday-Thursday and occasional Friday/Saturday 3:30pm-5:00pm. Cost: $595

Credits: If you chose to have your payment from last spring carried forward, we can apply it to this season. Please register, select "pay by check" and email firstname.lastname@example.org for the credit to be applied.
Scholarships: PVRC is committed to being accessible and welcoming to all. If you would like to apply for a scholarship for the spring season, please email email@example.com. We generally follow the YMCA's guidelines for income-eligibility for scholarships.
