Covid-19 Update


The health and safety of all members is the top priority of the Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club (PVRC). At this time, PVRC will offer various sculling (small groups in singles) and Dragon Boat practices (small groups in kayaks, until group exercise is permitted) with new policies and procedures as described below. We understand the situation is evolving rapidly and we are reassessing our plans on a weekly basis. As new information comes in, PVRC is prepared to adjust the program structure in line with guidance of our federal and local governments. Our staff and participants’ health and safety is our top priority so please take the time to read all information given and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. Holiday Season On-Land Training for All


Outdoor Fitness Training and Community Camaraderie Join us for some fun outdoor training before the snow arrives! PVRC is excited to offer a socially distant, fresh-air, tent-covered*, family-friendly option this winter that will keep you in shape and connected with friends and teammates. The goal is for all athletes to emerge from winter training with an appreciation of what their minds and bodies can achieve, ready for spring competition. New participants are encouraged to join in! PVRC will take all necessary precautions to ensure our athletes, our coaches, and our families stay safe during COVID-19.

  • Classes will be limited to 10 athletes per time slot, reserved by weekly Google Sheet
  • MASKS ARE REQUIRED except when athletes are actively erging, walking, running, exercising
  • Each rower/paddler will be assigned a machine during class and athletes will be required to clean their machine pre and post each training session.
  • PVRC equipment (hand weights, mats, bars, bands, etc.) will not be available for use
  • Each participant will be asked to bring their own mat and a set of hand weights. Weights are optional, not required.
  • Athletes will not be allowed to share equipment
Outdoor training session details:
  • Equipment (ergs/paddle machines) will be set up on the driveway with safe distancing
  • Athletes need to wear weather/activity appropriate gear (dry wick clothing and layers)
  • Tent without sides will be in place
Indoor programming details:
  • Stretching, yoga and very light activity
  • Meetings and video review
  • 10 athletes or fewer meets the current standard for indoor training
Workouts
The following options will be offered at the same time each day and athletes can choose between the options.
  • Family Friendly Learn to Row & Learn to Paddle – Open to all experience and fitness levels. These workouts introduce technique on the rowing/paddle machines with elements of cross training.
  • PVRCardio – Come join the group for this one and done workout. Forty minutes of cardio (walk, run, erg or a combination of all the above). Turn up the music and spin the wheel or get moving around the park. Athletes who choose this workout will have a 5’ Warm up, 40 min of cardio and a 5 -10’ Cool Down.
  • RowBoot - Row/Paddle 20’ BootCamp 30’. Participants will get on and off the erg during this training session. Duration and intensity of erging will vary. Boot Camp is a mix of exercise such as: squats, jumping jacks, burpees, mountain-climbers, hand weights, core, etc.
  • EXTREME60 (SCREAM) – Enter at your own risk. 60’ of hard work. Sprinting, Speed Work, Strength & Endurance
  • Rejuvenate – Light cardio mixed with mobility, stretching, yoga, relaxation and light band work.
*All sessions will take place at the PVRC Boathouse and will meet outside, under a tent (minimum registration required). Participants will be notified if class is cancelled due to weather conditions. Workouts will be shared with registered participants on the GoogleSheet. PVRC will attempt to offer makeup sessions for cancelled sessions, but refunds will not be issued. Dates: November 9th – December 18h (6 weeks) Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 3pm and 4pm. Thanksgiving week Monday substituted for Thursday Saturday: 7:30 am, 8:30 am, and 9:30 am) Cost:
  • $250 for unlimited sessions
  • $125 for Saturdays only
