Youth Crew Coach

The Youth Crew Coach position is an opportunity to assist coaching the Springfield Crew; a program of the Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club (PVRC). PVRC became a non-profit in 2009 and in 2012 moved into a diverse urban Springfield community and historic boathouse located on the magnificent Connecticut River. The Springfield Youth Crew has had a rapid growth period since 2012 and are in need of a couple of energetic and experienced youth coaches. This developing team has a roster of middle school age through high school; all levels. The youth coach would attend all practices and regattas scheduled for the season. Dragon Rays Dragon Boat Coach - Part Time Employment Offered: 

The Dragon Boat Coach position is an opportunity to lead the Dragon Rays, a program of the Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club (PVRC), a non-profit organization into it’s next stage of success. PVRC became a non-profit in 2009 and in 2012 moved into a diverse urban Springfield community and historic boathouse located on the magnificent Connecticut River. The Dragon Rays have been in existence since 2013. A grant from the Rays of Hope enables Breast Cancer survivors to paddle for free. The team has a current roster of approximately 40 members, two boats, and is comprised of both Breast Cancer survivors, supporters and other avid paddlers. The team has competed in several races each of the past two racing years and hosted a local festival as well.

The Dragon Boat Coach is required to have coaching experience and preferably waterfront experience as well as a willingness to learn Dragon Boat technique. Dragon Boat experience strongly preferred. Riverfront Ambassador

Responsible for creating a safe and welcoming experience for program participants and the community. Candidates must be able to engage the community in healthy living and promote riverfront activities here in Springfield.

 

Job responsibilities

Opening/closing of the PVRC facility.

Land and launch rowing boats from the PVRC dock

Rent out bikes for use on the bikepath

Ensure proper recording of activities.

Assisting with PVRC programs

Maintain a working knowledge of all programs being offered at PVRC.

Assist with facilities security.

Assist PVRC Directors to ensure all safety equipment is well maintained and operational

Ensure proper safety policy are being followed on the water and bike path

Light administrative tasks

Assists in the maintenance of the facility, park & equipment.

Participate in and complete other assignments as determined

 

Qualifications

Strong interpersonal skills are a must. 

Springfield resident and Spanish speaker strongly prefered
