Meet the Dragon Rays

Dragon Rays team members share a passion for being on the water, and we make a point of supporting each other.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We Offer Two Programs, the Recreational Rays and Performance Rays. Details are below:

Recreational Rays

A fun, vigorous paddle workout on the water for anyone to join. Beginners are welcome. Everyone who signs up for practice in advance (up to 40 people) gets on the water. Instruction provided by coach and paddlers. No experience required. All ages and abilities are welcome!

 

Practice Schedule: Saturday 8am, every other Wednesday 6pm.

Bonus/Freebie/Extra: Join Performance Rays practices (see schedule below) at coaches’ discretion. Contact Team Coach if you are interested!

Signing Up for Practice: We use the free app, GroupMe (www.groupme.com) which you will be invited to join when you register. You may also contact the Team Coach directly, at least 24 hours before practice to reserve your spot in the boat.

Racing: Athletes interested in racing must contact the Team Coach. Those selected to race will be required to attend certain practices, and pay additional race fees. Race participation is at the Coaches’ discretion.

Registration: Click here and choose "Recreational Team" under Dragon Boating.

Price: $195 for May 2 - October 3, 2020. Race fees not included.

Helpful Information: To go out in a dragon boat, you will need the following:  waterproof footwear that will not come off (no flip flops), comfortable exercise clothes, sunscreen, water bottle, and sunglasses. We provide personal flotation devices (PFDs) and will help you select the right size and fit. We provide paddles, and will advise you on the proper size. You may bring your own PFD and paddle if you have them.

Performance Rays

A fun, vigorous workout to improve fitness, technique, and practice race lineups to enter in 2 local festivals (no required overnights). 

Practice Schedule: Your attendance at 90% of practices is expected, Tuesday, Thursday 6pm-7:30pm and Saturday 8am-9:30am for indoor fitness or to assist the Recreational Team. You may choose or be asked to join Recreational Rays (see schedule above) to help fill boats, provide instruction, steer, etc.
Signing Up for Practice: We use the free app, GroupMe (www.groupme.com) which you will be invited to join when you register. You may also contact the Team Coach directly, at least 24 hours before practice to guarantee a spot in the boat.

Racing: Your participation is expected and entry fees for 2 races is included. A team uniform will be provided for race day. The team has the option to enter additional races, should they decide to do so, at an additional cost.

Price: $525 May 2 to October 4, 2020 including entry fee to two local races.
